University of Michigan sentiment index to be released at 10 AM ET

The University of Michigan preliminary consumer sentiment for March will be released at the top of the hour. The sentiment has seen a sharp for over the last few months from a high of near 74 to a low of 64.7. Meanwhile the one-year inflation has also moved sharply higher from 2.6% in November 2024 to 4.3% last month.

The expectations show:

  • Sentiment preliminary 63.1 versus 64.7 last month
  • Current conditions 65.0 versus 65.7 last month
  • Expectations 64.3 versus 64.0 last month
  • 1-year inflation last month 4.3%
  • 5 year inflation last month 3.5%

Heading into the release (9:56 AM ET)

  • S&P +76.2 or 1.38%
  • Nasdaq +300.61 points or +1.74%
